The three major religions of the world, Judaism, Christianity and Islam all believe in the existence of angels. In the Book of Genesis, Jacob dreamt that angels were moving up and down a ladder that reached from earth to heaven. In this way, angels communicate with both humankind and God. Angels delivered the message to the shepherds on the hillside that the Saviour had been born in Bethlehem. When Peter was in prison, the angel Gabriel appeared and put the guards to sleep in order to release him. Angels look just like ordinary men. They are often seen in dreams and cause great revelations and miracles. They are spirit messengers, heralds and guadians, also known as 'devas' and 'beings of light'. It is said that if you pray for a vision of an angel in your dreams, your wish will be granted.
